Annual Hollywood Iftar held in US despite Trump termination

US Writers Guild Foundation hosts an Iftar meal at London hotel in West Hollywood.

With the White House breaking the decades-long tradition of Iftar, Writers Guild Foundation hosts an Iftar meal at London hotel in West Hollywood.

Iftar is the name of the meal that Muslims eat to break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan, when they stop eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset.

The guild invited Muslims and non-Muslims to share the sacred meal at the 2nd Annual Hollywood Iftar.

The impressive move launched after Trump broke with hosting Iftars at the White House and State Department.

Maryum Ali, the daughter of late-great Muslim boxing champion Muhammad Ali, was featured at the event, telling the audience about her dad and how Islam influenced her father’s life.

“I watched my father strive to make decisions according to the overarching human purpose," she said, adding, "Whether he was having his position on civil rights or human rights, he had a certain consciousness, called Taqwa in Islam, and I watched him make informed decisions based on his God consciousnesses.”

According to a media report, the attendees were engaged in talks with each other, asking questions about the culture and practice of Islam.
